On the Königsplatz you find two important museums:

• Glyptothek, dedicated to ancient sculpture
• Antikensammlung, the State collections of Antiquities in Munich.

Not far from there are the three Pinakotheken: the Old Pinakothek and the Pinakothek of Modern Art.

The Bavarian Academy of Humanities and Sciences is located in the former palace of the Bavarian princeelectors and kings. Splendid rooms from the renaissance, rococo, neo-classical periods and the Treasury can be visited at the Residenzmuseum.
